Northern CA Wildfires Remind Us To Prepare

Wildfires burning in Northern California are a reminder that a wildfire could flare up any moment, especially when gusty Santa Ana winds are expected along with low humidity. Sign up for “Alert San Diego” the County’s regional notification system that will send telephone notifications to residents within San Diego County who are in danger of being impacted by an emergency or disaster. Are you ready to react if you received notice of a fast-moving fire threatening homes in your community? Information on evacuation and home preparedness are available at ReadySanDiego.org.

Help Plan Bub Williamson Park

The City is hosting community workshops to help plan improvements for Bub Williamson Park, which was built in the 1980’s and is in need of updating. The public is invited to either park design workshops on November 4 or 16. Residents will be asked to share their vision and ideas on what types of improvements they would like to see take place in the park.

Vista Hosts Trunk or Treat

Head to the kid-friendly, free Trunk or Treat event on Tuesday, October 31 from 4-6 pm. Kids crafts, goodies, fire engines and squad cars will be on display. Young trunk or treaters will meet Vista firefighters and sheriff’s deputies to learn about fire and police safety.




Off-Leash Dog Rules at Buena Vista Park

In August, the City Council amended a park ordinance to allow for unleashed dogs in the natural areas and trails in Buena Vista Park from 7 am to 10 am and from 3 pm to dusk. On October 10, the City Council agreed to discuss revising the new  park rules at an upcoming Council meeting. If any changes are made, a new ordinance would take either 30 or 60 days to go into effect.




Drop off Unused Prescriptions

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible way of disposing of prescription drugs. Drop off your unused prescriptions on Saturday, October 28, between 10 am 2 pm, in the Vista Walgreens parking lot located at 310 Sycamore Avenue.




Hepatitis A Update

The County of San Diego declared a local public health emergency September 1 for the ongoing hepatitis A outbreak in the county. The county has launched increased efforts to halt the outbreak focusing on vaccination, sanitation and education. The City of Vista is taking all recommended steps to help protect public health and has resources in place should the County call for additional measures. For the latest information, check the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency website.
